fragrance bottle "Straitlaced"

Fragrance Bottle: "Straitlaced"

Spalted Maple & Ebony
Size: 4.25" high

Spalted maple is one of my favorite woods for turning. The spalting is the dark threading that makes such a stunning pattern. The pattern keeps changing as the form is turned. So there's a wonderful element of surprise in working with spalted wood.

Ebony is another favorite, for its hardness and color. It's the most expensive wood I use. The black makes a beautiful contrast with lighter woods.

The finish is 3 coats of Deft lacquer. The 3 coats are important for water resistance. I've put a coat of Renaissance wax on the cured lacquer, so the perfume bottle is well protected.

Of course you can use this for aromatherapy too.

Price: $38 (plus shipping & tax for GA residents)
