Maple with Thin Dyed Veneers

Laminated Maple with Red & Green Veneers:

This little ornament represents one of my specialties. Ever since I began woodworking, I've loved to laminate wood. This enables me to make unique designs and color combinations.

The maple makes a light background with a pleasant woodgrain. The red and green lines are made with very thin dyed wood veneers. This means that I glued together twelve or so pieces of wood before turning this ornament.

The overall shape of this ornament, I learned from Mark Morrison, an artist who lives in Mt. Hope, Wisconsin.
